A Portrait of Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray's portrait He began to wonder if we could make psychology absolutely scientific, Sir Henry says how to manipulate it with the power of the mind When Dorian talked about hope of fate and exchange of portrait, he reached a contract with one of his own hooligans, not a contract with the king of darkness I have not. The picture of Dorian Gray starts on the beautiful summer day in the UK Victorian. There, the self-righteous Lord Henry Wharton is observing the painting of Dorian Gray by the sensitive artist Basil Holward. Portrait, this is a handsome young man, Basil 's ultimate muse. Dorian sat next to the picture and heard that Lord Henry supported his hedonistic world view and began to think that beauty is the only aspect of pursuit of life. This urged Dorian that his portrait would like to take years instead of himself. One of the main purposes of the story is a portrait of Dorian Gray. This portrait shows Dorian's sin, evil, and aging so that Dorian can maintain youth and beauty. Dorian Faust exchanged his spirit to express youth and beauty, which enabled this. Initially, basil was afraid to advertise his Dorian's portrait. It is because he revealed the secret of Basil 's soul, afraid that it would show a painter (basil) than the theme (Dorian). According to the explanation, Basil was concerned about his evidence of the traces left by portraits and the charm of Durian Gray, because homosexuality was highly stigmatized in Victorian England. In fact, Dorian was portrayed as innocent, and basil seemed to have seen him. There are literal portraits, but Durian Gray is a portrait. Since operation is art, Henry seems to be amused with his ability to influence and manipulate others, including Dorian. Pictures of Dorian Gray begin in England's Victorian summer and Sir Henry Watton is observing Dorian Gray painted by a sensitive artist Basil Hallword. Portrait, he is a handsome young man, basil's ultimate muse. While drawing a picture for this picture, Durian listens to His major Henry to support his hedonistic worldview, pursuing happiness is the only thing worth pursuing in life I started thinking about it. This urged Dorian to hope his painted image hopes to take his age instead. This book began with the artist's picture by Basil Hallward, Dorian Gray, reminiscent of Grey's aging and loss of beauty. This relationship between portraits is a way to explore the relationship between the outside world and self. How sad it is! I will get old, worse, and it will be terrible, it will be older than this special day in June ... if that is just another way! If it is always young, and that old picture! For this - I give everything! Yes there is nothing I will not give to the whole world! I will pay my soul for it I will!

Why should we stop worrying and learn to love WK3 assignment Essay - 1
Why should we stop worrying and learn to love WK3 assignment - Essay Example How could our police force be so lax as to not have been able to identify such problem people in the crowd of faces in the mall or in schools? The answer is simple. Nobody was watching. Our perimeters were not secure because constant monitoring and surveillance of people still cannot be accomplished without a court order. Although surveillance cameras are already planted in strategic areas of cities, its scope and use is still limited by law and therefore, hinders its ability to protect the population the way that it potentially could. Keeping these events of innocent bloodshed in mind, I cannot help but agree with James Stacey Taylor and his explanation of the need to embrace Big Brother in our daily lives as he describes it in his essay ââ¬Å"In Praise of Big Brother: Why We Should Learn to Stop Worrying and Love (Some) Government Surveillanceâ⬠. With the proper safeguards in place, the Orwellian nightmare that most people predict shall not happen because just like everything else pertaining to a persons right to privacy, the government may have access to certain information about you, but they do not have the legal grounds to blackmail or use the information they gathered against a person if it does not relate to a judicial proceeding. Our Fourth Amendment Rights and Wrongful Seizure Rights as protected by the Supreme Court rulings have made sure of that. As our population continues to become more and more comfortable with the way social media such as Twitter and Facebook has made our every move available to people in a wide-scale basis. I believe that the fear pertaining to the misuse of surveillance information will also fade into the background over time. That is because the events that happen in our daily lives, that show the efficiency and need for the constant surveillance is of the utmost importance in protecting the population will eventually push the people to clamor for more government

Relying on contractors, as was the case in the past, can be termed as the reason why emerging nations such as Russia and China have been overshadowing our military. The reasons behind this include unnecessary expenditure, longer research times, and an overall lagging military force. This move concurs with the 2010 initiative titled ââ¬Å"Better Buying Powerâ⬠which sought to incorporate more military research in evaluating which resources were required, and how much they cost. This task was previously mandated to other contractors. If this trend is furthered, we are bound to experience lesser violation of federal performance and costs. I agree that as the United States, we possess sufficient reasons to expand our weapons research programs, and this will be achieved by decreasing our reliance on ââ¬Ëotherâ⬠contractors and encouraging more military

Ethical Tourism in the Postcolonial Era Essay example -- Traveler, Tou
Tourism has become a huge source of revenue and cultural exchange for many parts of the developing and developed world. Through tourism people are able to escape their normal routine and interact with exotic and different places, as well as people. This act of traveling for the sake of pleasure and "vacation" sometimes leads tourists astray in their ethical judgment of how to act as a visitor in a different land. This paper will dive deeper into this issue by comparing the "tourist" through the sexualized tourism market in Brazil and more ethical forms of alternative tourism, such as volunteer tourism. The act of touring has been done for hundreds of years but has morphed into a more lucrative, dangerous industry as travel has become more accessible to a wide spectrum of people. According to (New Keywords) there are generally two kinds of people participating in travel: the tourist and the traveler. The tourist is a superficial being, taking time "out from everyday routines to sample, but not necessarily engage with othersâ⬠(356). The tourist may also be seen as vulgar and ignorant when presented with new cultures and ideologies. The traveler, on the other hand, is an "independent, genuine explorer on a quest of discovery" (356). The tourist participates in generic forms of tourism while the traveler seeks more personalized experiences that are more sensitive to their destination's environment and people. Through travel the "colonial and postcolonial character of modern tourism" is apparent as many people from the more privileged sectors of society visit the Third World and c ommodify their host's culture, bodies, and livelihood. Unfortunately, the bulk of the profit from these tourists goes to multinational companies instead of t... ...tourists feel the need to visit mass tourism destinations, such as all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, there are others who seek an experience that will change them forever. They want to soak up pieces of other cultures to put in their experiential scrapbook, feeling the emotions and living a lifestyle of the Other by diminishing personal boundaries. In contrast places like Brazil, Thailand, the Philippines and the Caribbean Islands are living a different reality as sexualized images of their women, and sometimes children, have become a problem by creating an unhealthy sex tourism market (Bandyopadhyay 940). With the mergence of alternative tourism and increasing global awareness about the many human rights issues stemming from generations of colonial exploitation there is hope that people will be more inclined to choose safer more sustainable modes of tourism.

Positioning and Communication
A large proportion of overweight people have been trying to lose their weight in every possible way. However, not every attempt was successful. Due to that, the pharmaceutical industry has been developing and testing a large variety of medicines that are specifically made to help people with weight issues. One of the newest drugs on the market is Metabical, a prescription drug developed by Cambridge Sciences Pharmaceuticals (CSP). Based on the results from clinical trials, Metabical has been proven effective for weight loss of overweight people. The question is how willMetabicalbe introduced to the market? PULL MARKETING The main idea was to advertise Metabical directly to consumers in order to increase the awareness of the product. This strategy was based on pull marketing where the purpose was to attract the customers and make them approach the supplier or seller tlrst It is not an assertive way ot marketing in comparison to push marketing where a seller calls potential customers on the telephone asking whether they would like to purchase a product they might not actually need.In 1997, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has reduced restrictions on direct-to-consumer-advertising concerning drugs. Therefore, the effect of the pull marketing was tremendously positive for the pharmaceutical industry. (Buckley 2003). It is also visible in a study made by Prevention magazine, where doctors whose patients came and asked for a medicine that they had previously seen being advertised, had the tendency to prescribe that same brand of medicine (even though they had different alternatives in mind). Following pull marketing, the strategy included: advertisements on the internet, television and radio. Moreover, print media was being distributed at the same time as the drug was being launched. This distributionwas continued in the same manner throughoutthe first year of the campaign in order to maintain the brand awareness on a high level. After the initial advertisement strategy, additional 100 000 health care pamphlets were distributed. These pamphletscontained a reply card which, if sent, would provide the sender with a sample of the product. The goal behind this campaign was to show the potential customers that Metabical is suitable for people belonging to the BMI range of 25-30.Body Mass index (BMI) is the most common index used for comparing weight and height. The calculations resents whether the weight is appropriate for the person's height. If the weight is not appropriate, the person can fall in the group of overweight or underfed (Tim J Cole 2000). As mentioned in the article, an abundanceof weight loss pills were made for obese or severely obese people. However, the group of people with the BMI ranging from 25-30 were not suitable for these pillswhich, consequently, did not have any effect on their weight loss.Additionally, CPS has developed a support programme which will not only help in weight reduction but also help maintaining the heal thy lifestyle. One of their key concepts in the campaign was: ââ¬Å"Losing weight is tough. You don't have to do it alone. Let Metabical and your health care provider start you on the road to a healthy weight and better life. â⬠Regarding the support programme, Printup has developed an online contest to attract more customers to buy theproduct and participate in the contest to win a prize. In this contest each user can Join in and compete with other users in reducing BMIs by the highest percentage. Not only Printup was making advertisements for consumers, she also developed a strategy to target medical community where advertisements were placed on online edical websites and also printed out in well-known medical Journals. Several events were organized especially for medical experts prior to the product launch, one of which was a roundtable discussion. In order to spread the word of the discussion, coverage of this event was done by leading news organizations.

Guess Whos Coming to Dinner - 835 Words
Dinner is about communication whether it is with family or someone you have just met. You exchange stories and learn a lot about a person. So as I say this I have chosen three women to take to dinner not only because they are African American but because they are women so they had to not only deal with racism but also sexism. I am taking Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, and Angela Davis out to dinner at Paschalââ¬â¢s Restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. I am taking them here because this is a place that used to host civil rights leaders and strategists for meals when they wanted to discuss what can be done. This place has a history with the African American community so it is not only a great conversation starter but also a place that all three the people I choose can have a connection to even if they were never part of the Civil Rights time period because they all fought for the same thing the people that used to meet here fought for. My first person I invited was Sojourner Truth beca use she was a strong woman that fought for her rights and was very accomplished. She was the first African American woman to successfully challenge a white man in court. She won the case to get her son back and that is so inspirational because most of her time period would have thought it was a lost cause. If I was to ask her any questions my first question would be if she ever got discouraged and felt like there was no hope at some points in her fight for abolition and womenââ¬â¢s rights?
